Welcome to Fox Glen Kennels! We are a small hobby kennel located west of Atlanta Georgia. Nestled in Douglas County’s woods where you will find a small clearing, a glen if you want, there you'll see our Pembroke Welsh Corgis, a shorty Jack Russell and several cats. We participate in a variety of dog sports including conformation and obedience. The Corgis, are the show dogs; the Jack Russell and the cats are just for fun. We have been breeding, raising, and training purebred dogs for over 30 years. My husband and I was married in 1980 and was blessed with two children. Now grown and with families of their own.

Our driveway leading to the road. . . Yes we are way back in the woods!

Spring pictures coming soon!

We moved here in September of 2005 to care for my ailing Mother, who was 72 years old at the time, and suffered from emphysema which caused her to be on oxygen 24/7.  We enjoy the peacefulness of this place. It is way back in the woods at a dead-end street in Douglasville, Ga.  In amongst approximately 35 acres of woods. We all have a deep love for animals and take the responsibilities equally whether its feeding the wildlife here or caring for our Corgis and other pets.  We enjoy watching the wildlife that comes to visit us, the deer, fox, rabbits, and squirrels are just a few to mention. We have a great sadness in our hearts this year, of 2008, as my Mother passed away this January. Below is a small dedication to her and her life. We will continue on here as she wanted us to. Thank you Mom for all your love and support.

Mother
July 17, 1933 - January 17 2008

Mom died on January 17th 2008, at 3:15 a.m. She peacefully slipped away in her sleep. She had  suffered for a long time with the emphysema and now she is finally at peace. She loved the dogs and enjoyed training and exhibiting them in obedience and conformation in her younger years. Although, lately she was not physically able to train dogs she enjoyed snuggling and playing with the puppies as well as the adults. She was a strong lady and loved life to the fullest. She is missed so much!

There is a legend about Corgis that they are an enchanted dog and used by the fairies  as "Fairy Steeds". If you wish to know more about the legend click here and read the poem.

In real life, Pembroke Corgis have been used by the Welsh as well as others for herding and driving animals, family companions, and watch dogs of the farm. They continue today to be workers and companions for their owners. Their ancestry is believed, to date back to between the ninth and tenth century, when Scandinavian Vikings invaded coastal regions of Pembrokeshire.  According to this theory, the Vikings who settled in South Wales, brought with them a Swedish cattle dog known as the Vallhund.   The Vallhund remarkably similar in appearance to the Pembroke was probably crossed with the native Welsh herd dog, the Corgi. It was perhaps at this point in time that two distinct different Corgi types began to develop: the original short-legged, long bodied, deep-chested dog with droopy ears remained as the Cardiganshire Corgi, while the Corgi of the Pembrokeshire region took on many of the Spitzlike characteristics of the Vallhund.  It is further believed that the Spitz characteristics seen in the Pembroke Corgi as a result of the Vallhund influence were made more noticeable by crosses with dogs thought to be either Schipperkes or early Pomeranians.
